Top 5 Esports Competitions in Indonesia

Since the Coronavirus pandemic took charge, almost every game we used to play outdoors has ceased to exist. However, one thing that hasn’t changed much is Esports. Esports has emerged as the favorite pass time for gamers and almost everyone. Much-coveted F1 race championships are now commenced using Esports. There won’t be any exaggeration in calling it the sports of the modern era.

Almost every gaming federation is adopting the idea of Esports, and the Indonesian community is no less behind.

In this article, we are going to discuss the top five Esports competitions that are commenced in Indonesia.

#1. Indonesia Games Championship

IGC was organized in 2018 for the first time that gathered attention from players of all levels. Organized in 2019 after that, the event organizer- Telkomsel is again set to host the next season of IGC in September 2020. Players from Indonesia as well as from other countries like the Philippines and Vietnam will contest for LOL in PC games, and Freefire, COD Mobile, and AOV in the mobile games category. The event is said to get even more exciting with 1.6B Rp in the prize pool.

#2. Indonesia Pride Gaming League

Among the biggest esports Esports organizations in SouthEast Asia, Mineski debuted in Indonesia with Mineski TV(official media team for IPGL) and Mineski Event Team (the official event organizer). It then went on to support the Esports platform by organizing one of the country’s premier Esports competitions, the Indonesia Pride Gaming League, in 2017.

The competition offered a huge prize value of USD30,000 for clearing a total of 8 qualifier events including 2 online qualifier rounds for anyone who wishes to join and 6 offline qualifiers across multiple cities. In the final round, four finalists will compete for the IPGL champion title and grab the USD30,000 prize money.

#3. PES League

PES League expands to Pro Evolution Soccer and is among the most popular Esports game league created by Maenbola and Konami official to determine the best player.

The PES League is present across some big cities in Indonesia. Winners from these cities then get a chance to compete in the national finals. These national winners then go on to compete in the regional finals and then eventually in the World Finals.

The last season of the PES League World Finals was held in London in June 2019.

#4. Kaskus Battleground DOTA2

Kaskus holds the DOTA2 online Esports championship in Indonesia which is divided into 5 series. The preliminary rounds are held online at different locations across the country and the final round is commenced at the official venue. The total prize money it claims to give away to the winner amounts to IDR100,000,000 or USD7036 (subject to change).

This Esports competition was started in January 2017 and was carried out in four waves. The final round concluded in April of 2017, whereas the World Final was held in BEKRAF Game Prime in July. Rex Regum emerged as the winner and grabbed the world champion title with the IDR100,000,000~USD7036(subject to change) prize money.

#5. ASUS ROG Masters Indonesia

Hosted by ROG Masters, this eSports tournament was started in 2016 for CS: GO and DOTA2 enthusiasts. Incorporating a total of five regions and their teams, this tournament went on to shell out the most in prize money.

Teams from every region are assigned to a group. The top two teams from each group contest in the single-elimination round making it more exciting. The best two teams from every region advance to the offline finals in Malaysia. The total prize money in the game pool amount to a whopping USD200,000. Apart from the prize money, there are gifts for the qualifier teams and the runner ups that include ASUS ROG notebooks and mousepads.
